Behind every balayage masterpiece, every color correction win, and every confident client walking out the door, is a team of passionate individuals who carry with them stories of grit, growth, and gratitude. In our latest feature, we shine the spotlight on five of our very own Color Baristas — Cath, Jen, Andi, Toni, and Lorna — as they open up about their journeys, dreams, and the culture that continues to inspire them every day.
From Humble Beginnings to Empowered Professionals
Each Color Barista came from a different path — a BPO agent, a nail technician, a spa therapist, a friend trying out a salon gig — but they all found one thing in common at The Color Bar: a place where they could grow.
“Nagsimula ako bilang nail technician… pero gusto kong maging hairstylist someday,” shared Jen, now the Branch Head of our Capitol Commons location.
“Sa Color Bar ko nakita ang opportunity na ‘yon.”
For Cath, now leading the BGC branch and one of our pioneers, it was a decision rooted in motherhood and practicality:
“Kung meron akong gunting at brush, I can still work — kahit saan.”
Their stories echo one another in tone — uncertain starts, brave choices, and an eventual sense of belonging.
Why They Chose The Color Bar
The Color Bar wasn’t just another job stop — for many of them, it was a dream realized.
Toni, a senior stylist with global training, found herself back in the Philippines after studying in Denmark.
“Nung nakita ko yung salon during the interview, sabi ko this is it — my dream salon.”
Andi, who once hesitated to speak with foreign clients, found both confidence and community.
“Teamwork talaga. Walang kanya-kanyang client dito — tulungan kami.”
Even Lorna, one of our admin staff, found fulfillment in service:
“Masarap sa pakiramdam na may goal kang tumulong, lalo na sa mga charity work naming ginagawa.”
What It Means to Be a Color Barista
Being a Color Barista is not just about technical skill. It’s a mindset, a heartset, and a culture deeply embedded in respect, leadership, and continuous learning.
“Color Barista ka hindi lang dahil marunong ka magkulay,” says Cath.
“Nandoon yung puso mo to serve people. We set the bar high, and we mean it.”
From leadership growth to personal breakthroughs, their transformation extends far beyond hair.
Toni recalls:
“Dati, laging nasa likod ng senior… ngayon, mas mataas ang self-esteem. Mas kilala ko na ang sarili ko.”
A Second Home
For all five featured team members, The Color Bar is more than a workplace. It’s home. It’s family.
“There’s no reason to leave,” says Toni. “But always a lot of reasons to stay.”
Jen adds, “Yung boss mo, nakikipagbiruan sa’yo — it feels like family.”
And it shows. From team buildings to training sessions, from giving back to the community to supporting one another during tough times, the culture is built on trust, collaboration, and shared pride.
