Accounting Assistant

The Accounting Assistant supports the financial operations of The Color Bar, contributing to accurate
financial record-keeping and compliance with accounting principles. This position plays a crucial role in
maintaining the financial health of the salon and ensuring that financial transactions are processed
efficiently and accurately.

Responsibilities

Data Entry: Accurately enter financial transactions into accounting software, including expenses, revenue, and payroll data.
Accounts Payable: Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and prepare payments for approval.
Accounts Receivable: Assist in tracking client payments, generating and sending invoices, and following up on overdue accounts.
Cash Handling: Assist in reconciling cash register receipts and preparing daily cash deposits.
Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile salon bank statements and resolve any discrepancies.
Expense Tracking: Monitor and categorize salon expenses, ensuring proper documentation.
Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing regular financial reports, summaries, and statements.
Assist in Budgeting: Provide support in creating and maintaining the salon’s budget.
Financial Analysis: Assist in analyzing financial data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
Assist in Audits: Prepare documentation and assist during financial audits.
Record Maintenance: Organize and maintain physical and digital financial records and documents.
Assist in Month-End and Year-End Procedures: Contribute to month-end and year-end closing processes.
Vendor and Client Communication: Communicate professionally with vendors and clients regarding financial matters.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and industry regulations.

Qualifications

Education: A degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or related field is preferred.
Experience: Prior experience in an accounting or financial role is advantageous.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in data entry and record maintenance.
Numerical Skills: Strong mathematical and numerical aptitude.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
Organizational Skills: Effective organizational and time management skills.
Communication: Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies and issues.
